Welcome to the spring of another year. And with the same predictability of shorts and t-shirts, the “Trends for 2018” are being established. Every industry and niche will publish a few of these pieces outlining trends. Some industries – like content marketing – will publish several dozen “Trends for […]
The trends that started a few years ago will continue and accelerate through 2018.
It seems like content marketing has become an industry in and of itself. Every corporation and marketing firm, Mom and Pop and solopreneur has their own production machine churning out massive loads of “content”.
What’s it all mean for the lonely internet marketer in 2018
Well here are a few takeaways that you can bank on:
#1 There is going to be a record amount of content produced this year.
Every second of the day – 100’s of thousands of pics, posts, podcasts and vids are added to the internet. We are up to our eyeballs in stuff to read, see and hear.
#2 The Written word is becoming less important.
Video and audio are quickly overtaking written content. That means writing keyword-filled SEO articles is going to be an ineffective use of your time. You have to produce videos – especially live videos – in order to get the eyeballs of your audience.
#3 SEO is Just About Dead for the Solo Internet Marketer
Unless your niche is super, super, nichey, banking on getting love from the Goog is a long shot.
#4 Trust and Personal marketing is the Secret Sauce
Now, more than ever, you and your audience have to really have a close relationship. You both have to know and like each other. And your audience has to trust you completely.
So the point is that to grab your audience and build your tribe it’s going to take a strategy that involves a laser focused approach – focused on a sub niche and focused on a rather intimate relationship with your fans.
You have to be dedicated to your niche and your followers – it is the only way to stay on top of the huge tsunami of content that is rolling along.
